What is the difference between DVD and BlueRay?

Can play in DVD players blue ray? Blueray not even have their own players or are they using even DVD players but with a quality blue ray? How this works? And what happened to HD?? And can normal dvds work in PlayStation 3 or only blue ray discs?

A The DVD is common to use for movies. It stores 4.7 GB is good for a movie in standard definition (480i or 480p). A Blu-Ray disc using a laser with a shorter wavelength that allows it to store much more information (up to 50GB) making it ideal for movies in high definition (1080i or 1080p), which has a file size larger than a standard definition movie. Yes, most Blu-Ray can play DVDs. They are "upconverted" to make them look like a Blu-Ray disc. A Blu-Ray needs a Blu-Ray Player Special disc. They can not be played on a standard DVD Player. As I mentioned earlier, a Blu-Ray should be read using a laser with a smaller wavelength of a regular DVD, so a DVD player will not be able to play a Blu-Ray Disk. HD High-Definition (720p, 1080i, 1080p). A Blu-Ray disc is played on the highest resolution possible now (1080p). But to see the video in 1080p, you need a 1080p TV.
