Basic Things for a Home Theater

Friday, February 5th, 2010

Plenty of people never bother looking into purchasing a home theater throughout absolute fear for this conclusion this may need to be made in the act. A lot of amongst these aren’t also for sure of precisely which materials are included in a home theater or this kinds are necessary so as to build a highly effective and compelling home theater. That’s the reason, some people plainly usually do not worry finding your way through the method of looking at their alternatives relating to these kinds of amazing methods currently available much less ever worry actually purchasing just one.

If you are one of the many who has experienced some degree of confusion when it comes to the individual parts and pieces that are included in a home theater system and what they do, hopefully you will gain a better understanding once you’ve finished reading. The first thing to understand is that there are varying degrees when it comes to home theaters. The following components are the makings of a very basic home theater that will provide excellent functionality. They are not however inclusive of every possible piece or part that could make up a home theater system.

Off to the basics, the first thing you’ll need when creating a home theater for your family to enjoy is a television. It might seem a little too obvious to some but I have yet to find a box kit that includes a television-mainly because the choice of screen is for many the most personal aspect of selecting a home theater. There are essentially three choices in today’s television market: front projector, rear projector, and plasma. There are variations within each of these and the prices fall anywhere from modest to quite costly. This is the component that most home theater owners spend the most time contemplating and it affects the types of components that will be most effective later on in terms of things such as high definition and other choices you can make.

A receiver is another important component. You will probably have a DVD player or recorder of some sort as part of your system; you may have a Tivo and cable box or satellite and will probably have speakers of some sort for your system. The receiver is the box you plug them all into-it receives all of this inputs and correlates it so to speak. This is the ultimate traffic director when it comes to your home theater and I suggest you spend a good portion of your home theater budget making sure that this is a good quality part.

Speakers are where your sound will flow. One of the best things to me about a home theater is the ability to experience surround sound very similar to what I experience in theaters while having the ability to put my feet up or snuggle under blankets (which simply can’t be achieved in a theater). Speakers come in all shapes and sizes and are also quite personal for some consumers while give and take for others. You can purchase these are part of a kit in order to make the selection process easier.

Ultimately, you could have your DVD player or recorder. If high definition is important to you, you now have that option. If your television isn’t HD ready or capable, I’d pass and go for an older (less expensive) model of DVD player until something more up-to-date is called for. These items are a great start for any home theater and you can build, expand, and upgrade over time for an even better system. Enjoy!

Designing Your Own Custom Home Theater

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Most people don’t understand that the home theater experience is about more than just the size of your television set. There are many companies that offer design advice for your home theater system, but you are the only one that can make certain that your custom home theater is just right for you and your family.

Do-It-Yourself Design

Many interior decorators offer their services to those wanting home theaters, but I have always believed that a do-it-yourself approach is best when customizing your home theater. There are many different things to consider when you decide to create your own custom home theater, things like size of room, lighting, seating, and equipment. Some homes may not offer a very large space to use for your theater, so you will have to adjust your equipment purchases accordingly.

You will also need to decide what type of seating arrangement you want for you custom home theater. There are numerous options, everything from simple couches and loungers, to movie theater-style seating that reclines. Obviously, the simpler you go for the seating in your custom home theater, the more money you will save; but because you will want to be able to sit comfortably for several hours on whatever you choose, you may decide that the money spent on theater-style seating is well worth the expense.

When designing your custom home theater, you should decide whether you want a larger picture or better quality sound. Both large screen television sets and high end sounds systems can be very expensive, so it is important to decide which you would rather invest in for your custom home theater. If you are on a limited budget, you can have great quality in both your sound and picture, but you may have to scale back the size of your custom home theater.

Done For You?

Many interior decorators now offer their services to those wanting a custom home theater. Unfortunately, unless you have a large budget to work with, this can become very expensive. Unless you are looking to create a custom home theater on a very grand scale, you will probably be better off designing your own. There is a wealth of information to be found on the internet on how to design your own custom home theater.

Regardless of whether you choose to design your home theater, or hire an interior decorator to design it for you, building a custom home theater can provide years of movie enjoyment.

Shopping For Plasma TV Stands

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Before you buy your big screen plasma TV, wouldn’t it make sense to buy something to put it on? After all, if you just set it on the floor it could get shorted out if someone were to tip over a mop bucket. The type of plasma TV furniture you choose is ultimately going to be based on your tastes and your budget.
A lot of people go for the minimalist style wall mount. An advantage of a wall mounted plasma television is that it rarely needs to be moved and it opens up a lot of space in your living room. A disadvantage is that you will have to store your DVDs in a separate location; there is no place to put them with a wall mounted stand.

Of course you could go with the glass topped metal stand. This will give you a place to put your DVDs, VCR, and DVD player. It’s a very sleek looking design, one that goes well with modern homes. A disadvantage to glass topped plasma TV furniture is that the glass can chip and break if you aren’t careful with it.

If you are like me and you like the old time feel to your living room, wooden plasma TV furniture is the way to go. You can get this with the classic wood stain or painted white or black. I like the wood stain because it reminds me of the old and large radio/record players, and it just has a more antique feel.

Whatever style you decide to go with, know that plasma TV furniture enhances the look of your plasma television and adds to the overall look of your living room. No one can answer the question of which style best matches your home and personality better than you can.
