Today, Apple held their music keynote complete with Chris Martin from Coldplay finishing out Steve Jobs announcements of their fall lineup of Apple products with a couple popular Coldplay hits. Apple rolled out a variety of new announcements, the most exciting being a simplified version of the Apple TV, a sleeker, smaller version of the iPod Nano complete with a touchscreen like the iPhone and a new social network called Ping for iTunes users. 4 years since the last version of the Apple TV hit store shelves, Steve admitted that it really wasn’t a bit hit in their product lineup. Their research indicated that consumers were less than impressed with the similarities to the computer, didn’t want to manage storage and didn’t want to sync content from device to device. The second generation of the Apple TV solves these problems by moving to a streaming version of the

An Interview with Michael Fremer
Monday, August 30th, 2010
To serious audiophiles, Michael Fremer really needs no introduction. He has long been a distinguished high performance audio reviewer for several decades and enjoys a lengthy stint as a senior contributing editor at Stereophile magazine. His passion for Vinyl playback is unparalleled and his monthly column at Stereophile, Analog Corner, is among its most popular. But that is just scratching the surface; no pun intended. Fremer has produced a highly regarded, some would say indispensable DVD, 21st Century Vinyl: Michael Fremer's Practical Guide to Turntable Set-Up along with It's a Vinyl World After All. He also runs Musicangle.com (http://musicangle.com/) , a fantastic site chock full of hard hitting LP and CD reviews plus industry news. Manley Labs Snapper Mono Block Amplifiers Review
Wednesday, August 25th, 2010
Manley Labs, out of Chino, CA, is one of my favorite high-end audio companies. I had the pleasure of reviewing the wonderful 300B Preamplifier (home-theater-preamplifiers/stereo-preamps/manley-neo-classic-300b-preamplifier.html), and the very cool MAHI mono block power amplifiers (home-theater-power-amplifiers/mono-amplifiers/manley-labs-mahi-mono-power-amplifier.html). To say I greatly enjoyed my time with both those products would be an understatement. Manley's world view is that hifi should be fun at all costs, not some super-serious hobby where hours can be spent debating the choice of AC power cords. The Manley world view also declares that Tubes Rule. I agree with that, and I will add that tubes are one way to make hifi fun. It is clearly more interactive to fiddle with valves, as they are called in Europe.Needless to say I was very excited at the prospect of reviewing additional Manley products. Well, imagine my joy at being assigned the mighty Snapper 100W mono block amplifiers. The

10 Fantastic Subwoofers for Home Theaters
Wednesday, August 18th, 2010
When you’re thinking about modifying the sound in your home theater, nothing can make or break the overall effect of your sound system like a subwoofer. A weak sub can make even the most thrilling action sequence seem muted, and a sub that’s too much for the room can overpower the rest of the system with ease. But there’s nothing that ties a room together – not a giant screen, great seating or even an antique rug – like a subwoofer that just plain works for home theaters. Here’s a list of 10 subwoofers that we think offer an exceptional quality of deep bass and can give your theater the extra oomph that will impress anyone sitting down to watch the latest blockbuster movie. Velodyne Optimum-10 It probably won’t come as a surprise to see Velodyne on this list.
